Jasper Ridge Winemaker Syrah 2024

The Winemaker Series is crafted to explore a different side of Syrah, showcasing the grape’s versatility beyond the big, bold, and peppery expressions it’s known for. For the 2024 vintage, our aim was to highlight red fruit vibrancy and create a lighter, more approachable style. To achieve this, we used a Beaujolais-inspired whole-bunch fermentation.

This carbonic maceration technique sees whole, uncrushed grapes placed in a sealed tank, where fermentation begins inside the berry itself. The result is a wine that is bright, fruit-forward, and supple, with low tannins and a softer mouthfeel. After a few days, the grapes are gently crushed and fermentation continues, building complexity while retaining freshness.

The result: a Syrah with Beaujolais charm and Jasper Ridge character that is already attracting attention.
